Event Details
An adventure to capture the spirit of the car free travel project, with environmentalist and sustainable tourism expert, Janet Hunter; catching the bus to Bridge of Cally, walking the Cateran Trail up the glen to Kirkmichael and exploring the stories of the places on the way. Return by bus to Blairgowrie.
Join Janet for an afternoon’s adventure on the bus and on foot following the Cateran trail for 8 miles through stunning scenery and reminders of the old ways as well as the new.
We will see Blackcraig Castle, and take in the woodland management and farming practices as we make our way up the glen. Arriving in Kirkmichael there is a wealth of living history to discover as well as a pub, in case we are early for the bus. Ideally you will have had lunch before we meet, so bring a light snack and drink for the afternoon.
We will stop to explore points of interest and admire the view but a full picnic stop is not planned. We expect to see Scottish Blackface sheep, Highland cows and perhaps red or roe deer, red squirrels and oyster catchers to name but a few of the local more than human inhabitants!
