Event Details

Starting and finishing in Alyth, one of the most historic towns in the Ecomuseum, you will have a choice of two free ‘Riddle Trail’ cycle rides that will take you on a half-day tour across one of Scotland’s most bike friendly, beautiful and fertile valleys – Strathmore.

Choose from a 25 mile route with a climb of 331 metres or a 14 mile route with a climb of 214 metres.

These non-competitive circular bike rides, aimed at families with children over 12 years old who are proficient cyclists, have been especially designed to take you past up to eight heritage sites and points of interest where you will be offered the opportunity to solve a riddle relating to the site (written by our very own poet in residence Jim Mackintosh) before moving on to the next one.

The routes are self-guided and depending on how fast you choose to go it could take you anywhere between 1.5 hours and 5 hours to complete your cycle!

Both routes mainly follow designated ‘walking and cycling friendly roads’ with some short off-road sections and are suitable for road bikes.

A limited number of bikes are available to borrow for the ride thanks to Alyth Cyclery. To request the loan of a bike, please email [email protected] once you have booked your place on the ride.
