Cateran Ecomuseum

Route Description

Starting at the Bridge of Cally Hotel, the route climbs steadily from the outset into Blackcraig Forest on a wide gravel track. Near the high point at the Croft of Blackcraig, it continues out towards Cochrage Muir. As the forest begins to thin, you’re rewarded with expansive views over open moorland, passing a larger loch on the left, followed by a smaller one further along on the right.

From the point where the route joins the Cateran Trail, the riding becomes more demanding. The ground is often boggy, with frequent puddles and softer sections under tyre. However, conditions gradually improve, and the final stretch—descending through the forest back towards the hotel—is fast, flowing and great fun.
