Event Details

Come and join the Cateran Ecomuseum team for a ‘hands on’ 2.5 hour session all about the Currach, one of the most ancient forms of boat used in Scotland for travel, trade and exploration.

You’ll be able to have a go at learning one of the principal skills needed to make the Currach as well as actually paddling one in the Alyth Burn!

We’ll also explore what is was made of, the navigational skills needed and how this form of transport compares with the way we travel today.

And along the way you’ll get to hear some thrilling stories about how it was used for both seafaring and river-sailing.
