Cateran Ecomuseum

Come and join us for a new Promenade Play by community playwright Phil Baarda.

Featuring local performers and musicians alongside actors Innes Anderson and Benjamin L Wray, this free Promenade Play will take you on a walk to some of Meigle’s most interesting historical sites.You can find out more about this ancient village and its intriguing past and have a great day walking outside in beautiful Strathmore at the same time.

Commissioned by the Cateran Ecomuseum from well-kent writer, director and theatre maker, Phil Baarda, Monumental Meigle will interweave local stories, anecdotes and myths about Meigle and the surrounding area, which have been gathered from local sources, and re-told and shaped for the modern-day.

Performances are at 2pm on Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th – but spaces are limited so booking is essential. You can book your place HERE. 

The performance will last around two hours. Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for outdoor conditions; in the event of wet weather, the play will be performed in Kinloch Memorial Hall.

This event is part of the Cateran Ecomuseum‘s innovative Museum of Rapid Transition programme, and is being delivered by the Cateran Ecomuseum with the support of Inspiring Scotland and the Scottish Government’s Rural and Island Communities Ideas into Action (RICIA) Fund, Paths for All Smarter Choices Smarter Places programme, and the National Lottery Heritage Fund thanks to National Lottery players.
