Did you know that east Perthshire hosts a dramatic, hidden story from the great King Arthur myth?

Vanora is the Scottish name for Guinevere – Arthur’s queen – and Barry Hill near Alyth is one of the key sites in her gruesome story.

We do not know when Vanora’s story was first told, but it would have been repeated and reshaped many times before Hector Boece first wrote down the legend in 1527.

Join our storyteller Lindsey Gibb who will reveal all that happened to this fateful queen, decoding it for our times, in what is probably the first time her story has been told on location at Barry Hill.

You may wish to bring snack rations and drinking water on this walk. Be prepared for Scotland’s varied weather with clothing for wet/cold and warm/dry conditions. Please wear sturdy footwear with ankle support suitable for mixed upland terrain. There are no public toilets on this route.
